CO2 Detector Installation and Repair:
The risks posed for the average homeowner by CO2 are a very real and present danger. What makes it even more dangerous is that CO2 is tasteless and odorless. CO2 poisoning is deadly you. That is why having a properly operating CO2 detector is essential for your family’s safety.
Dangerous fumes that can cause CO2 poisoning can be emitted from:
- Charcoal BBQ fumes indoors
- Gas furnaces and appliances
- Cracked chimney flues
- Running cars in enclosed spaces (i.e. garage)
Closing damper in fireplace before fire is extinguished
You can protect your family by installing a CO2 detector. You can also make sure to ventilate areas where you run your car. Have your furnace, appliances and chimney inspected to make sure that they are in good repair.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI):
Shock protection is not only a good safety practice; it is now a legislated requirement for homeowners. Dangerous shocks can happen when an electrical path travels by accident between a source of electrical current and a grounded surface (i.e. a “ground fault”). Installing GFCI breakers reduces the risk of shock by shutting off the electrical current directly at the source, when it detects a threat (i.e. your finger or other object in the outlet).
Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI):
Although your appliances and lights may seem to be working well, there always remains the risk of electrical fire. That is why homeowners are required to have AFCI breakers installed as a safety measure to protect against fire. They work by monitoring currents that flow when you are using electricity (i.e. when you turn on the lights). When they detect a current that isn’t within the normal range, they shut the source down.
